LEGACY Gene Weldon, a Myrtle Beach area pro for nearly 50 years, mentored countless kids during his career. After his death in 2017, Kelly Tilghman – a former Golf Channel anchor and Myrtle Beach native – founded Gene's Dream Foundation, which raised $50,000 in December for the First Tee of the Coastal Carolinas. The money came from the Mentor Cup, a tournament at Tidewater Golf Club that featured 60 adults and 60 children.
