SPEED OF LIGHT EQUIPMENT T wo new entrants to the market both agree that there's a theme in new club construction technology: Via re-engineering, fine- tuning clubhead weight to give golfers with moderate swing speeds more performance. COBRA infused the new F-MAX Superlite driver with a multitude of improvements to accelerate the swing transition: a 6-gram lighter clubhead, a 5-gram lighter shaft and 7-gram lighter grip. Likewise, the crack research team at Titleist has developed a series of two drivers, the TS2 and TS3. You may have already seen Justin Thomas and Webb Simpson using them on Tour; the company is promoting the ultra-thin titanium crown, 20% thinner than the 917 (the new shape also reduces drag by 20%). The TS2 is geared to straight speed, while the TS3 embraces speed-tuned distance and dynamic forgiveness.
