If you're heading to Florida by car, the northern
part of the state is easily within a day's drive. The air-
ports in Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Fort Lauderdale and
Palm Beach Gardens offer plenty of direct flights
from the Carolinas, however, and that's your best bet
if you want to maximize time on the course and min-
imize the amount of time spent driving through the
farms of southern Georgia.
With that in mind, here are some of the most inter-
esting places in Florida you can add to your itinerary
while putting together a winter golf getaway

he most surefire location for a winter golf getaway
east of the Mississippi is Florida, thanks to the Sun-
shine State's impressive number of warm weather
days and golf courses. When the Carolinas get
clipped by a stray winter storm or extended slate of cool, cloudy
days, Florida is at the ready with weather better suited for shorts
and flip-flops – and has more than 1,000 golf courses ready for
visitors to enjoy.
